Are you someone that hates Mondays? Does the idea of starting a new week after enjoying your weekend make you feel anxious and overwhelmed? Do you constantly feel unprepared at the beginning of your week, and left to play catch up the rest of the days? We’ve all been there, I get it. Here’s one thing that you need to remember – if you want to have a productive week, preparation is key! Keep reading for 10 things you can do on Sunday for a more productive week.
If you add these 10 tricks to your Sunday routine, I promise you your weeks will go so much smoother! Remember, if you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready.
Set Your Intentions
Before the start of any week, it’s a good habit to get clear on what your intentions are. In doing so, you’re giving yourself something to work towards, so that you don’t feel so frazzled and all over the place once the week starts. Identify 3-5 goals that you want to reach for the week and let them set the tone for the week ahead.
Prioritize Your Tasks
Now that you know what your goals for the week are, identify the tasks you’re going to have to complete to meet those goals and prioritize them from most important to least important. Prioritizing your tasks for the week gives you a sense of clarity about what needs to be done, that way you don’t feel like a chicken running around with their head cut off.
Read my blog on the importance of priorities here.
Create a Plan
After prioritizing your tasks, create a plan of action. I personally like to use a traditional planner for this. But digital planners work just as well. One of my favorite websites to use is Asana. When creating your plan, think about upcoming due dates, and incorporate what days of the week you’re most productive. For example, for some reason I am most productive on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so I normally schedule my most important tasks/goals on those days and tackle them.
Prepare Your Meals
I don’t know about you, but my weeks can get pretty hectic! The last thing that I want to worry about is cooking. Meal prepping is something that I highly recommend. Not only does meal prepping help you save money, but it also eliminates the stress of trying to figure out what you’re going to eat and cook every other day. Do you know what else meal prepping does? Frees up your time so that you can do other things and can also help with weight loss!
Pick Out Your Clothes
I’ll admit, this was a game-changer for me! Taking the time to pick out your outfits for the week shaves time off your morning routine and cuts some of the anxiety out of getting ready in the morning. But you won’t feel less anxious in the morning, you’ll also feel less angst at night! Why? Because you took all the guesswork about what to wear! Make your mornings more productive and efficient with this trick. Seriously, try it out and let me know what you think. I’ll take it a step further and say you can even iron/steam your clothing for the week as well.
Clear Your Mind
Find some time to take a deep breath and clear your thoughts. The last thing you want to do is to start a new week with the weight of last week or whatever is bothering you on your shoulders. Clear your mind by journaling your thoughts (try a brain dump), meditating, or listening to music to get your feeling nice, calm and ready to tackle the week ahead.
Clean Your Space
The cleanliness and organization of your home can really have an impact on your mood. I noticed that when my home is untidy, it makes me more anxious and stressed! So, in order to start the week on a clean slate, I make sure my house is clean and organized as well. Having a clean and decluttered space will also boost your motivation because you won’t have the constant haunting reminder that you have to clean.
Clean Your Makeup Brushes
For all of my ladies that rock makeup, you should be cleaning your makeup brushes at least once a week. As you can imagine, there’s a bunch of build-up and bacteria that can accumulate with constant use. This can lead to acne and rashes if you’re not careful. So, set aside 10-15 minutes to clean your makeup brushes. Clean slate remember?
I personally like using the Beautyblender soaps to clean my makeup brushes. Check them out.
Set Aside Time for Self-Care
Sundays should not be all about preparing for the week. You owe time to yourself as well. Set aside some time to practice some self-care and show yourself some love. Whatever that means for you! Maybe it’s a good ole’ face mask, a night bubble bath, or getting lost in your favorite magazine. Unwind and relax, you deserve it!
Get a Good Night’s Sleep
Yes, all of the above is great but don’t forget to get a good night’s sleep. Truth is when you’re tired you’re less productive and your performance may lag. Make sure you’re getting between 7-10 hours of sleep so that you can set yourself up for greatness and slay the week ahead.
